Interested in Leading Frankfort, KY to become a great city?

As the filing deadline for the Mayor of Frankfort or City Commissioner position approaches on January 5, 2024, DIG would like to connect with individuals who share our dedication to strategic growth in Frankfort and maintaining financial accountability within the city’s fiscal operating budget.

For example, DIG endorses candidates who will refrain from creating non-essential staff positions, thereby keeping overhead expenses at a minimum. We’re looking for candidates who will scrutinize proposals for new positions, challenging their colleagues and staff to explore alternative solutions that meet the needs without increasing costs. With overhead expenses on a consistent upward trend, exacerbated by the financial pressures post-pandemic, it is crucial to exercise fiscal responsibility. Elected officials should advocate for a comprehensive hiring freeze across all departments, excluding essential services such as emergency management. The focus should be on maximizing the efficiency of existing personnel and organizations. In times of inflation and budget constraints, it is financially irresponsible to incur additional non-essential overhead. Considering that labor and associated costs are among the highest variables, special attention must be paid to this category. This ensures that our local government manage their fiscal responsibilities wisely, refraining from adding to overhead costs through the recruitment of full-time employees or independent consultants.

If you share DIG Frankfort's commitment to running our city efficiently and minimizing costs, we invite you to contact Rodney Williams at rwilliams@whitakerbank.com or call 502.319.4320 for more information.
